That’s why we were honored when they approached us for a feature in Total Solutions, their official publication.
In the Q3 2025 edition of the magazine, Total Solutions featured the work we do to ensure that the environments that require stringent indoor air quality measures have an exceptional array of solutions, covering our story and our approach to engineering, automation, and AMADA technologies.

The article begins by explaining AJ Manufacturing’s roots as a comprehensive commercial HVAC manufacturer, focusing on the basics of air distribution. We focused on this market beginning in 1974. Prior to that time, we enjoyed a reputation as the largest manufacturer of residential and light commercial sheet metal, experiencing particular success after the Second World War.
However, at the turn of the century, everything changed. In 2000, AJ Manufacturing acquired its first laser cutter from AMADA and recognized the benefit of focusing exclusively on critical environment commercial HVAC systems, including ceiling systems and grids, along with fan filter units and diffusers to ensure cleanrooms and other mission-critical spaces, like operating rooms, can utilize superior solutions.
The article’s emphasis on our shift toward serving a niche market demonstrates our commitment to solutions-oriented partnerships. We know we represent the first step in ensuring a patient can receive a life-changing surgery without a high risk of infection, new research or medicines can be created without contamination, or a breakthrough microelectronics component can make its impact without device failure.

Our Engineering Approach Is On Display In Total Solutions Magazine
We were proud to read a narrative account of our engineering workflow with several observations from AJ Manufacturing Treasurer Rob Haake. The article walks through how automation supports our fabrication and forming to ensure consistency and efficiency for our partners.
The article shows how our process has evolved. Rob notes that our system automatically generates bills of materials and releases the right information to the factory floor, so “about 85% of our orders are never touched by a person.” The feature also describes how our automation strategy has culminated in a system that went live in 2018 and now processes about 8,000 parts a week automatically. That’s not automation for its own sake. It’s a way to empower our team to focus on more specialized tasks, shorten lead times, and protect quality by removing avoidable handoffs.
