It’s now easier than ever to connect AJ Fan Filter Units to your building automation system. We’ve added native BACnet – the most common BAS protocol – as an optional feature on all of our ceiling-mounted FFUs.
If you’re new to BACnet, it is a data communication protocol for building automation and control networks. Originally developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), BACnet is an American national standard and a European standard, as well as a national standard in more than 30 other countries.
While BACnet allows for control and monitoring of more than HVAC systems, such as fire/life safety and lighting control, it can be particularly valuable for HVAC. For instance, over a BACnet network, you can check FFU filter status, run time, CFM output, motor RPM, and several other parameters. When multiple units are in use throughout a building, it’s easy to see how beneficial a BACnet network can be.
Continually monitoring a building’s FFUs with a BACnet system helps to ensure the units are performing properly at all times, helping prevent unintended disruptions. For buildings that actively maintain critical environments over BACnet networks, Criti-Clean Ultra FFUs are now an obvious choice, as they will connect to the network immediately with no other equipment needed.
